Purity of Intention Secret to Success of Quran Translators
A translator of the Holy Quran into Balti language said the secret to the success of Quran translators is having pure intention.
Yusuf Hosseinabadi, who visited IQNA’s pavilion at the 19th International Holy Quran Exhibition, said if the translator puts his trust in God and devotes himself to the task, God will bless him and help him to produce a good rendering.
The 61-year-old Pakistani said it took him seven years to render the Holy Book into Balti, a language spoken by some 340,000 people in Baltistan, in Gilgit-Baltistan of Pakistan and adjoining parts of Ladakh.
He added that his translation, which was published in 1995 in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, is the only version in Balti.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Mr. Hosseinabadi referred to the Islamic awakening movement and said the Quranic slogans of the Arab nations have been a blessing in the process of political developments in the region. “This indicates people’s trust in God and having recourse to Quranic teachings for realizing their objectives.”
He said the uprisings in Arab countries is a sign of the people’s demands in these countries for creation of governments based on Islamic values.
The Pakistani translator of the Quran also referred to the International Quran Exhibition and regarded the event as a venue for attracting the youths to the Book of God.
